Camel riding is a popular activity in at the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve in the United Arab Emirates. Shiek Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (Prime minister and Vice President of UAE) purchased all 87 square miles in 1997 and had an area (roughly 5% of the country) fenced off to protect indigenous species.
